Meeting & structure of the evenings

Meetings are held at Junction Church (was the Eastleigh Railway Institute), Eastleigh – from 7pm to 10pm.

New Members time is between 7pm and 7:30pm. This is where you can show your work, ask lots of questions and receive valuable advise from many of the group. This is very friendly so don’t be shy and bring along your work – all guidance is constructive to help you learn.

The main meeting will start at 7:30pm and finish by 10pm. Most meetings feature a talk or demonstration about a turning or related subject by a club member or a well-known national turner. Several times a year we have ‘turn-ins’ with a number of lathes being operated by members demonstrating various techniques. There is a tea/coffee break about 8:30 to allow for chatting, stretching & catching up with the latest gossip. A raffle and prize draw rounds off the evening.

Every month members are invited to bring work for the gallery. The gallery will be critiqued on the Turn-In evenings and if time allows on the other meeting nights. Again all very friendly and constructive. The photos of your work will be posted on this website so you will be famous – you can show off to friends and family.
We sometimes run a monthly project for novices and intermediates with the opportunity to discuss problems encountered and overcome.

Membership is £36 per year (April to March), with a proportional fee for new members joining part way through the year.

Potential new members are welcome to come along and pay a fee of £4 per visit for a maximum of 2 visits. Please see our Membership page for our membership form to download.
